Forget superbugs… worry about supermemes!

We live in a culture where we are supposed to live at others’ convenience. Where we are all supposed to dance to the same tune, march to the same drummer. Get excited about the weekend, even more excited about holidays. Want to be with our families, eat a big meal, and complain about indigestion afterwards.

Thanksgiving is a great example. The holiday preparation has taken over everything already a week ago. Everything. You drop life, you drop your projects and like a good soldier, you do the thing that is expected of you, talk about the holiday, think about the holiday, shopping, cleaning the house, inviting people or being invited… Nobody home. Just a machine.

Church And Dark Side, Religion and Dark Side

Church And Dark Side, Religion and Dark Side

In my conversations, people always refer back to religion, church, or ceremonies.

Our lives and our belief system has been shaped by religion more than anything else. In my case, I would dare say that the religion of matter over mind, the belief of it’s all random and accidental, ran my life for decades.

It is easier to see it on my brothers: one has a real hard time to see the back or their head, and belief is such: it is like seeing the back of your head, because it is ok, if you think it’s a belief, but what we think is not that, we think and know that it is the truth.

“Superstition is only a superstition when it’s not, and it isn’t when it is”

How to start preparing your brain to build a latticework to hang new knowledge on?

I woke up with a question: how do you build a latticework to hang all your knowledge on?

I have built a latticework, but I did not do it consciously. I just noticed that I had it and others didn’t.

As usual I wrote down the question before i went to sleep last night, but the answer wasn’t there this morning. Only the question. Urgently.

So I came to my computer, and the first link I clicked took me to an answer. Maybe THE answer. No accidents there… I clicked on a link on a website I normally don’t click on anything.

Love

Is calling that fuzzy feeling, that uplifting feeling, what the love gurus meant for us to be? The love they say god is?

I don’t think so.

I think no person in their right mind would think that god, whatever that may be, is sitting there loving you up… feeling love.

So what does that make you? A person not in their right mind? Exactly.

The art of being well, being unphased, and impervious… for real.

I had an interesting unintended experiment this afternoon.

I have a loud burr coffee grinding machine.

I was ready to make some coffee (I drink cold dripped coffee) and ground the coffee beans while I was doing something else.

I found out that I am much better ignoring memes than ignoring loud noises. I could not hear myself thinking. I was making mistakes… I pondered what I was doing…

This gave me an opportunity to put myself in your shoes. What it must be like to be living in the constant jarring noise of the memes…

Here is what I have seen so far:

What is beyond the ground bound existence of humanity?

I have been puzzled by the fact that people are literally unable to think up a context that would instantly transform their reality.

As I have said before: context is decisive.

That simply means that the context, the background alters how the foreground is perceived. The foreground doesn’t change, or not necessarily, but the mood, the attitude, the feeling, the motivation changes.

The how changes, sometimes dramatically.

My favorite context is mastery.

Mastery is just a word… So let’s elaborate on that.

Why Most People Will Remain in Mediocrity

Most people will never become truly successful.
“It’s lonely at the top. 99% of people are convinced they are incapable of achieving great things, so they aim for mediocre. The level of competition is thus fiercest for ‘realistic’ goals, paradoxically making them the most competitive.”
-Tim Ferriss
Most people will never be truly successful.

The pull towards mediocrity is too strong. As David Schwartz once penned, “All around you is an environment that is trying to pull you down to Second-Class Street.”

Most people will never escape the pull.

The story of your life… told the same way or differently

One of my greatest revelations about transformational methods was in the Wisdom Course, a year long Landmark program.

It was a method of telling the story of your life.

You can tell the story of your life in a lot of ways.

from abuse to abuse
from success to success
from the point of view of what school you went to

Want to be the one who is making the decisions in your life?

This week has been a success for Life, and a disaster financially. Everyone was spending their money on turkey, I guess.

So I am going to announce some sales for this coming week. I’ll make them good… so you’ll buy.

Now, about the successes that lead me to a huge insight.

Everything that people do is guided by memes, and they think they decided to do it. And you think they decided to do it from the goodness of their heart, from the badness of their heart, whatever seem to be the case. But in fact they never decided anything… It is the memes that are doing the deciding.
