Turning points: You are not really stuck where you are.

As I promised, I am continuing the discussion about powerlessness… the sense, the feeling, the belief of powerlessness.

This sudden awareness was helped along by Alex Hormozi’s video the other day. He talks, no, he rails against what makes you weak and fragile.

Watch it and learn. Get knocked conscious of what you are doing to yourself!

You may want to listen to it with slower speed… Alex talks really fast!

Now you see why I am in love with Alex… I want to be like him when I grow up! lol.

You speak and you are unaware that
every moment, with every word you are creating yourself, and who you are, for yourself.
In this overwhelming sense of powerlessness you feel that the only power you have is forcing**. Without that, you feel that you are powerless.

I am paying attention to the words you use. The weak, ineffective students use self-deprecating words about themselves as FACTS, not tendencies.

The somewhat more effective students use less of those…

So I observe myself and my words, spoken, written, or the words I say to myself..

I have come a long way. My behavior has changed… My speaking has changed, even the words I say to myself have changed!

It is all about personal power… I declared myself powerless at some point. I was reacting to an incident where I had no physical power. That was the foundation, the cornerstone of my being for decades, and still would be without doing this work.

I was overpowered by a grown man. A little girl, three years old going on four. I still bear the consequences of that… but by now only the physical ones.

My reaction to the pain was that I went unconscious… Even today I feel the pull to go unconscious, to check out when the going gets so tough that it looks hopeless.
But today, instead…
…I stop for a little bit… slowly and gently (no forcing!) I breathe. I allow the hopelessness some space to be. Emotionless I watch it. And when it calms down a bit I look what it is I can say in the matter.

With enough practice I can tell, without seeing how, that the hopeless situation is more often than not is not hopeless.

So I wait, PATIENTLY, and look with FRESH EYES.

What I say in the matter of hopelessness, it is the end, it is over, what I say: ‘we shall see. It isn’t hopeless until I say it is. And then it is time to start over, but not until then.’

By the way, my knee jerk reaction is still ‘f… this… I screwed up’ or ‘it’s hopeless’. But today, more often than not, I just sit there, or get a cup of tea, or go to the bathroom, giving myself some time to chill… Not acting on that ‘it’s over’ feeling has been the secret of many of my accomplishments.

Or the secret of my productivity. Or of my happiness.

The biggest regrets you’ll have on your deathbed are the things you didn’t do…
You did something else

Let’s build a high vibration person

Let’s build a high vibration person… let’s build a skill, let’s build some skills

I am starting a new series that also shows a new direction I am taking my teaching/coaching practice.
The new direction is skill-building.
Obviously, if you are like most people, you have no idea what a skill is. You may say some inane things, but you still don’t know. Even if you read the “what color is your parachute” famous book that has been published and every year for 48 years, with over ten million copies sold.

I have taught it. I have lead the workshop. And I can safely tell you that in all those years, there wasn’t one person who learned from me, or from the book what a skill really is, and then develop skills that would take them far on the job market.
Why? Because skill is part of the invisible world.

More on the 10 dark years theory… or why it takes so long to succeed

Most winners in life master one thing in particular: they are astute. Astute: having or showing an ability to accurately assess situations or people.

Accurately assess… as opposed to have an opinion, have a good feel, or guess…

Is that a skill, a capacity, a virtue? What is it and how do you get it?

A have a new “most visited” post, the 31 quotes that give you chills… Why? Because it promises an experience… an experience you crave in the consistently dull and painful life you have.

Wanting to get chills without any other benefits says a lot about you and your life. What does it say? For one: you are a mystery to yourself…

I have said it before… humanity bars its way to evolution by throwing big words around.

I have something to say in the matter. But what do I say?

I have something to say in the matter… but what can I say?

Back in 1986 it was revolutionary. Closed circuit TV across the world.

Werner Erhard had his Saturday seminars. I lived in New Jersey at the time, but the audience was in many cities in the US, in Australia, and maybe in Europe…

I was green and my ‘est’ vocabulary was non-existent, so I probably only got 1% of what was available, but I did get something.

In one of the sessions Werner set up the question: I have something to say in the matter… and what the matter was I don’t remember, but I suspect, that he was doing what I am doing with my DNA adjusted students:

When all your efforts result in no learning

“It’s easier to evaluate your results through drunken delusion than to gaze soberly in the mirror and face the truth.”

I had a conversation yesterday with one of my clients, and as it is predictable in many conversations, weight came up.

Weight is a universal source of grief, effort, disappointment, and self-hate.

But why would that be so?

I can recall, in my life, four “campaigns” to regain control over my body.

The most recent one is successful and is going to last. The previous ones included one or two elements that were not sustainable. for example the first time I was on a starvation diet, and I maintained it for 10 years, until I came to the United States, where the plenty beat me on my a**.

What capacity is missing so that you cannot recognize the same thing in a different environment?

What capacity is missing so that you cannot tell, you cannot recognize the same thing in a different environment?

I think this is the main issue for people who cannot grow… even if they keep on having private sessions, do all my courses, or all Landmark courses, or all Mindvalley courses, or use energy stuff… mine or others’.

When you put something they know some other environment, they don’t recognize it in a different environment, a different context.

So what is the missing capacity, you wonder… And how can anyone dream up a method to teach it?

A little historical view of how humans evolved (or not) during their lifetimes in previous times…

Can you pinpoint your attitude with 100% certainty?

How do you know, how can you tell what is your attitude?
I have always wondered where good acting comes from… acting that almost no American actor does well… almost, I said.

But where do the attitudes that give the foundation of a scene originate.

But this morning I got really lucky. I saw a few interviews with Larry Thomas who played the Soup Nazi in Seinfeld.

In all of Seinfeld that I never saw on television but have the whole however many seasons, downloaded onto my PC, that was my favorite part… the Soup Nazi.

I was sure, until today, that the episode and the character wasn’t an actor. Why? It was so real… Authentic. I think I have even written about it before…

Anyway, watching and FEELING this actor create the inner dynamic of this character brought it to my conscious awareness that I FEEL the muscles of my face move, documenting the creation of the attitude… whether it’s mine or someone else’s.

I knew that my ‘homepage’ attitude is ‘I am personally offended’ and it is all in the mouth curving downward…

I needed to know that or I’d never become the person I am… I’d always remain that ‘it’s all about me and it should be different’ twirp.
But today I realized that all behavior, all attitudes come from the micro muscle contractions, and a good actor initiates everything from there.
This is, maybe, the reason I can ‘watch’ a movie not seeing it at all. Except for the environment, which I can’t feel, I don’t have to see the actor to feel what his facial muscles tell me he feels.

And this is how I know that American actors don’t know that (except the few good ones), because they don’t play they follow instructions, nobody home.

When I ask students and clients what is their attitude, they don’t go to their faces. They go to their minds, their stomachs, or their chest… but not where it comes from.

Unless you get familiar with the invisible or hard to see, you’ll be always blind and fly blind… and that is dangerous. Deadly.

Start paying attention to your facial muscles.

It is part of self-awareness… or we could say it is 01% of self-awareness.

And whatever you can’t see/feel you can’t manage, you can’t change, you can’t be responsible for.
And because responsibility is your access to power, you can’t experience power… boohoo for you.
This is why I will do two (2) live workshops teaching you to feel your face and your facial muscles… I can’t and won’t attempt to teach you to feel someone else’s, because you can’t… but you can learn to pay attention and evaluate the meaning of that micro expression…

We’ll attempt to identify these attitudes and feelings ON THE FACE.

Personally offended, disappointed, disgusted, distrust, doubt, hesitation, contempt, etc.

These are different than what ‘they’ teach, these are from MY ’emotional/attitude vocabulary’. They are powerful in that when you can identify them, you can own them… you can change them, you can manage them, so you

Liking

I have been very sick, but I am feeling a little better. I can stay with a thing now a little longer, I can take an idea a little further.

I have been working out the toxins from my poor battered body, slowly, and somewhat effectively. Three weeks it has been since I gotten myself poisoned.

And one of the signs that I am coming back to myself is that I am noticing more.

The role of liking in following guidance, following coaching.

I have a few “clients” that keep on coming back, show up on my webinars, want stuff from me, but when I look: they follow maybe 1% of what they got from me, and the rest: they go to someone else to get guidance from.

How I learn and other stories you can learn from

Let’s see if you have a sense of humor? If you don’t… stop here and go darken someone’s day

Money is better than poverty, if only for financial reasons. ~ Woody Allen

When I first came to the United States in late September of 1985, my trip was paid by a lawyer somewhere on the Palisades of NJ. I asked his secretary to type up my resume. She did it, on a computer.

There was something I wanted to change, so I asked for permission to go to the office and change that thing over the weekend.

That was the first time ever I did anything on a computer. I remember it took me hours of reading the manual to figure out what c-drive was and what to type in to make the computer do something, and open the document of my resume.

It was DOS time baby… I know that NOW but then I could not tell my arse from a hole in the ground.

And when I found the resume it fell apart in one keystroke… oops.

I spent the day and the evening in that office, but in the end I had a resume.

I was reminded of this incident this morning when I was trying to make a ebook readable for my new hero client who wants to start a business. And the word document of the book did look just like my resume back in 1985 and was formatted with as much ‘savvy’… meaning none. Using none of the built in capabilities of MS Word.

And when I look: I see this same ‘attitude’ everywhere. I call it arrogance… the arrogance of the ignorant.

What I call ignorant is

doesn’t know
doesn’t find out…
just makes up their own b.s. answer.

i.e. reduces the world to stone age level, where there was nothing…
Some people read a book, take a course, hire a coach and then do what they have always done… stone age… or at least ‘before they learned anything for a lot of money’ age.

Boggles the mind.

So… What is missing?

I say openness.

And… What is there?

Rigidness. Rigidity. I will use by club and clobber you to submission attitude.

The hardest clients to make a difference for are the rigid ones… They will, maybe, humor you to take them to the water, but they won’t drink. And they won’t tell you straight that you are wasting your time either.
Anyway, Rant for this morning… check. All done.
On a brighter note: I had a call with Amy, longtime student, great conversationalist. This was our third call, and I’ve come away from every call with something akin a gold nugget for myself…

But this time it was even better.
I had been sulking for a few weeks about some stuff, and I may even say that it’s been about a month.
I knew it was my racket… because every time you are not happy, it is always your racket.

But the racket is a tricky machine, and I could not see what I can do about becoming happy again.

WARNING! when you work with your racket, please know that what you’ll see won’t make you look good, make you smell like roses… No. You’ll look like a creep. Don’t tell me I didn’t warn you.
It began with my birthday.

Have a mind like a sieve?

It takes more than just insights, or reading, or listening to audios to become a fully equipped person who can live the good life. But what is the fundamental missing piece that so darn few ever benefit from in ANY of the activities they undertake?

With life spent in cars and buildings, our eyes stopped looking and assessing our environments. And with smart phones and computers, our eyes became like stationary search beams, not seeing anything outside of the beam…

But more importantly: out of sight – out of mind: the brain does not connect what you see with anything… nothing is ever written on your brain’s hard drive… only into its RAM… and once you look away, it all disappears…
