Existential Courage, taking risks, and what will be the most important turning point in your life

One of the most important things I have ever done in my life is find out what really holds me back from taking risks.

After all, if you want to grow, as a person, as a business, you need to take risks: all power comes from going out of your comfort zone, and it’s a risk.

The kind of risk that causes you to grow is the kind of risk you need existential courage to face.

The other risk, existential risk, is annihilation of your physical body, but the kind of risk that causes growth is the kind that threatens to annihilate your self-image, your persona, to make you look bad, be wrong, be less than you desire to be.

So you can see, you have that kind of risk every step of the way, while the other, existential risk is rare and dull in comparison.

Let me return to the most important thing I have ever done, and that is: find out and own my biggest fear. Embrace it, if you wish… Love it, if you wish…

How visualization can help, but you need to know what to visualize

In my previous post I stumbled on something I myself didn’t know: how to use visualization that is not woo-woo.

This discovery shows something really interesting, and maybe important.

A number of years ago I bought some programs from the Maxwell Maltz and the Psycho-Cybernetics foundation(?)

I read the books, and they made sense. And yet: I wasn’t ready to do any of the exercises in the programs. Why? Well, let us look.

Psycho-Cybernetics talks about improving your self-image, and most of the exercises are about that. For anyone to be willing to invest the time and energy to do the exercises, one must see that they have a self-image problem (I did not see that) and also must see what are the actions that one can’t or won’t do, because it is so new, or scary, or complicated.

The get into action activator, or how to accomplish things in your life

Dear Sophie, I’ve purchased three audio activators so far, and all I can say is… you deliver. The – Get Into Action activator should be subtitled – how to get organized immediately.
When you read that, you should say: I want that for myself. Really.

There are two types of people.

Type One: They live a vegetable life. They have no ambition, they are not up to anything. They may have some higher aspirations tickled when they watch a movie, for example, but they don’t see that living, thriving, accomplishing is for them.
Type Two: The second group sees that life is pretty much what you make it… but they lack the motive power to rise to the occasion. They want to, they’d like to, they dream about it, they may even plan to live a life suitable for a human being, but gravity, insistence on comfort, safety, pulls them too much.

Self-Awareness, Self-Knowledge: how do you avoid duping yourself and start growing?

I was on a coaching call this morning. The student feels that he could be more, and that is what brought him to my programs. He raised his vibration from 130 to 200 in six days, and continues to come to the coaching calls.

He would like to own his own business. I recommended that he finds out where he is at, what he is like, so he increases his self-awareness… and finds out what is the reality he is in… I asked him to take the blue pill (the Matrix movie) so he can see the reality, whatever that may be.

Then I gave him a homework to do that with: a few questions to ask his friends, co-workers, family.

Deception: do you have any way to tell if you are being deceived or not?

Innocence: they are still surprised at deception. You are hiding it because you want to be right and admitting that you are a fool makes you look bad!

Personal notes: I am a teacher of transformation. I am a seller of my own courses and energized products. My products work, I use them, and I watch people who use them like a hawk. When something doesn’t quite deliver, I work until I find what’s missing, and provide it.And I am poor. Not quite penniless, but definitely poor.

I live in a small city, in a two bedroom apartment with one other apartment in the house, downstairs.

For the most part I am fine, the downstairs neighbor, 80% of the time, is OK… but when he isn’t, I suffer, and I suffer mightily.

It would be ideal for me to live in a cottage, so I can be far from people… but, of course, the money that all my brilliance is able to generate isn’t going to cover the cost of that upgrade.

This article came as a result of my musings how come I won’t ever get rich with my wares, and how come that teachers that teach crap are raking it in…

I am not bitter about it, by the way, this is just how it is, and I am well. As long as muscle test says “continue” I’ll brave the circumstances.

Most sales (of anything anywhere, including food, shelter, etc… but especially in the domain of self-growth, spirituality, abundance, and the other non-tangible areas of life) are based on deception. Sellers are either personally deceiving people, or “institutionally”, meaning that they are selling something that people think will do something for them, but they didn’t learn it or get it from them…

Let’s deal with both of them.
Individuals deceiving you, selling you snake oil
The first is easier: the seller knows that what they are selling is worthless or harmful. They know it by using it themselves and not getting the results, and getting to witness the “results” on their customers.

They know that they are deceiving the public. They use testimonials that don’t show the long range results, only the placebo effect: the longest time anyone having or using the product is a few days at best, or the results and the product have no cause and effect relationship.

Worlds Apart: the two basic world views every world view belongs to… Part 2: Comparison

Like you, I want certainty. Like you, I want to be sure. Like you, I want to understand how the world works.

Why? Because we are coming from a personal world view that Life is dangerous. Or something to that effect.

Osho has a theory that when you are born and have to suddenly and without preparation leave the safety and luxury of the womb, your first emotional response is fear. Especially if you are born in a delivery room with glaring lights, lots of noise, and someone holding you upside down and slapping your bottom to make you breathe.

L. Ron Hubbard (of Dianetics fame) adds that people talk in the delivery room, and you absorb all of it as if it were the truth about you. One of my students had a hard time getting through the birth canal, and was stuck for a while. “She is stuck…” the doctor said, and she’s been stuck ever since.

Another student of mine (probably) heard in the delivery room “I can’t feel anything” and lo and behold, he can’t feel anything. Hunger, anger, love… none of it.

Now, whether that is the reason, or it is cultural, it is immaterial. You live in a world where the mood is: The world is dangerous, mistakes are bad, you need to know, and therefore you are incessantly looking for a safer way to live.

In that environment, you “buy” anything that sounds like an explanation to all the strange things you hear or feel. You follow anyone “who has the answer.” You follow religions, gurus, teachers, you become vegetarian, fruitarian, anything to avoid the uncertainty of life, i.e. life itself.

You are like the ostrich that hides his head in the sand to avoid confronting life.

The Secret To Attaining A Good Self-Image and Self-Esteem

The Secret To Attaining A Good Self-Image and Self-Esteem

Remember, that the more you like yourself the better you like your life? But did you know that you don’t like yourself, because you disappointed yourself?

When you are down in the dumps, and you try to pick yourself up, the experts say that you should do some juicy affirmations. But the truth is, that you know you are lying, so the affirmations don’t do you any good, in fact they erode the little self-esteem you have.

Your soul, your “real self” doesn’t approve of lying, doesn’t approve of cheating, doesn’t approve of stealing, and the like.

Our outward directed attention gives us the mistaken impression that if the world likes us, if we are outwardly successful, then we’ll like ourselves.

Unfortunately for most of us, the outward success doesn’t do anything for your self-esteem, and for your liking your life. It is the inward work that matters.

Self-Respect Is The Key To A Great Life: When You Like Yourself You Like Your Life

Respect means two things: the original meaning: double take, and the new, politically correct meaning: honor.

I will mean the original meaning in this article: the act of looking again. Because when you first looked, the past got into your eyes. You saw what you expected to see, you saw how it used to be, how you saw it before, you saw it in a way that rendered your relationship with it stuck, and your life as well.

What you hold true, about yourself, about your loved ones, about other people, individually and as others grouped together, about life, about work, about what is good and what is bad, gives you a certain world, and for the purposes of this article we’ll call it your paradigm.

The almost magical cure for procrastination

Finally, an almost magical cure for procrastination
When you have something to do but you don’t do it, your life starts going in a tail-spin, heading towards the rocks. It seems that what there is to do is so terrifying, so painful, so unbearable, that even ending up on the rocks is better.

If you are a procrastinator, your motive power is to avoid death, instead of loving life.

When you actually do the stuff you’ve been putting off, it always turns out that it is not that horrible. And, although you would think that next time it will be easier, you’ll find out that next time it’s even harder, even though you’ll remember that it wasn’t a big deal.

Why is that? It’s a vibrational issue. You’ve gone over to the side of Death…

It is much like being cold, trying to stay warm, trying to pull every energy inwards, and not move. Counter productive, counter intuitive, and yet, we all do it, in one area or another.

Just like to ward off the cold moving your muscles works, you warm yourself up, and the issue disappear, in the case of a procrastination, with the feared item, feared issue, feared opponent, taking action will disappear the issue… but the inner logic is set wrong, and somehow only an emergency, a direct threat to your life can flip it, throw the switch for you, and you seem to have no power, you wait until the threat is big enough.

Until now nothing worked. Until now you have tried will power, tricking yourself, but nothing really worked. Until now, that is.

Path To Enlightenment: If You Wanted To Make One Resolution: I Recommend Eliminating Drama

Drama is a human phenomenon. Animals, trees, don’t know drama. Nature doesn’t know drama. Existence doesn’t know drama.

Drama is the result of ego-mind.

If you closed your eyes, and managed, for a moment, pulling your attention back from the future, and pulling your attention back from the past, you would get to a space, I call existence. Existence is not part of the time/space continuum, existence is part of the beyond.

You’ll notice that you didn’t have to go to it, you only had to leave the unreality of the past and the unreality of the future.

There is a movie trick where suddenly the darkness, the drama, the danger, the night is replaced with flowering trees, birds singing, and yet, there is a silence.

One of the best examples, and maybe the shortest, is the video on meditation below. Observe how the drama, high drama, turns into the most beautiful scene of serenity… It is possible for you.

All thoughts come from the unreality. The past and the future.

Thoughts come from the ego-mind.

Mind is a storage device, much like the hard drive of a computer. Most of the stuff there is garbage. Stored away, unexamined. Everything and their opposite is there. It is slow, clunky, by the time it reacts you missed the now moment.
