How self-fulfilling prophecy really works, or what is the difference between thinking and having thoughts

Everybody teaches that what you think about comes about. What they base this inane untruth on is the bad things that you somehow seem to “make happen” by concentrating on them through fear.

And although the fear-based “manifestation” is true a lot of the time, the “positive” manifestation happens only as accident, if ever.

The basis of the “negative manifestation” is called self fulfilling prophecy in psychology, which is a pseudo-science based on observation and theories.

Most of the theories in any discipline are wrong, so nothing special about psychology. What is special is how pseudo religion, law of attraction made it a law… churns my stomach. And we all ate it in our fervent desire to gain some control over our lives.

Apocalypse: an opportunity to develop some capacities to be ready for anything

This is an article partially rewritten by me. It is from Rob Brezsny from his book, Pronoia… with my notes, annotations…

He describes, through the “apocalypse” the relationship between the pedestrian (driftwood) way of living and the living on the higher floors… pretty much what I teach… Although his language is a lot more lofty, a lot more “spiritual,” but he expresses what I am trying to say, maybe better than I do.

Some “visionaries” and “prophets” expect a huge and sudden shift in the world’s story sometime in the coming years. Most predict that it will be a sudden cascade of events that completely changes everything everywhere.

How to develop the wisdom you need to be able to tell truth from fiction, truth from a lie?

I just read a little local article about a fourth-grader (age 9~10) who challenged himself to read more books than he did the previous summer (100) and read almost 150 books this past summer.

His favorites are fantasy and fiction, including Viking and Greek mythology.

Now, if I asked you what’s the difference between you and this kid, what would you say?

You probably think that I am accusing you with not reading enough, so you would reach for some excuses, and some self-justification, not enough time, blah blah blah.

Some of you would say that you read as much, but you read it on the Internet, emails and such.

What if you could be certain that you cannot fail? Certainty vs Faith, Knowing vs Believing

Certainty is perfect knowledge that has total security from error, or the mental state of being without doubt.

Objectively defined, certainty is total continuity and validity of all foundational inquiry, to the highest degree of precision. Something is certain only if no skepticism can occur.
Certainty is virtually unknown in today’s culture. We have “faith” but it is, in a way, a concept from religion, and therefore it says, secretly, in the unsaid, that you are small, and insignificant, powerless and frail… and the “thing” that is bigger than you can play with you like a cat plays with the mouse it caught.

Faith comes from weakness… at least for most people. But most importantly, faith comes from the mind. There are a few people that call it faith but it’s beyond, but not many.

Certainty comes from strength. Certainty comes from a part of you that wasn’t born when you were born and won’t die when you die. It comes from the Self, the immortal Self.

The question of needing something, faith, certainty, comes up when the future is uncertain, or when it looks really bad. When you don’t know where your rent money is going to come from, when you don’t know how you are going to beat the cancer that has taken residence in your body, when you don’t know how to talk to your child that stopped listening to you.

The tragedy that happened to humanity in the last Century

What happened to humanity, starting at the beginning of the 20th Century is a big tragedy.

Success literature happened.

And success gurus, success writers, motivational speakers, and the whole industry of the Lottery Approach.

The same thing happened in spirituality and in healing. Even religion had been kinder to people… Even religion had robbed them less that this new wave of success literature. Killing Life… for most people.

Liars, shysters, snake oil salesmen, con artists. all making money through selling lies. Teaching you things that don’t work.

Unfounded, untested, untrue.

With rare exceptions.

Two rules of engagement and a condition…

Ever since last Saturday I have been observing myself putting myself down, devaluing myself. Telling people I am not such a good coach, etc. etc. etc.

I know what happened. I know exactly.

I watched this guy’s videos, I read his testimonials, I heard his superior facility to guide people and take them where he wanted them to go. I watched his 24/7 tireless enthusiasm to turn marginally interested people into fans. And I compared.

I compared.

Self-Respect Is The Key To A Great Life: When You Like Yourself You Like Your Life

Respect means two things: the original meaning: double take, and the new, politically correct meaning: honor.

I will mean the original meaning in this article: the act of looking again. Because when you first looked, the past got into your eyes. You saw what you expected to see, you saw how it used to be, how you saw it before, you saw it in a way that rendered your relationship with it stuck, and your life as well.

What you hold true, about yourself, about your loved ones, about other people, individually and as others grouped together, about life, about work, about what is good and what is bad, gives you a certain world, and for the purposes of this article we’ll call it your paradigm.

The Nature of Reality: Glimpses, reality, filters: why is the world the way world is… different for different people?

I had a rare glimpse at the nature of reality today.

It’s been happening quite some time, but I could never catch the why of it…

Imagine the scenario: you are playing a card game with 52 cards. No one is there to move the cards, just you, and you don’t cheat.

You get to a point where you are clear that you lost the game. So you go and make yourself a cup of tea, go to the bathroom, answer the phone… whatever.

About 10 minutes later you come back and look at the game. Before you close it, you just want to look at it again. And miracle: you suddenly see a way that, in three more steps, instead of losing, you’ll win this game.

You suspect divine intervention. You suspect miracle… but what happened, really? What is the “real” nature of reality?

Ever since I started to run the Harmonize Your Vibration audio in the background, I’ve been having miracles like this happen, several times a day… but this time I caught the “what happened” part, for the first time.

I caught the thoughts “it’s impossible…” and “I can’t…”
