Vocabulary… Does any word added increase your vocabulary?

I have written about increasing your vocabulary, I have said it in coaching calls, I have been asking people to do what it takes, and the answer is… nothing.

One possible reason is that you don’t know what I mean.

I have two students, one of them ex… 🙁 who, while reading books, wrote down words with their meanings, and learned them like a second language.

I, myself, look up every word on my kindle when I read, I not, and then promptly forget the word. I have to look it up again the next time it comes up. And yet, I “sport” an ever growing vocabulary, that has gone from 1000 in 2011 to 5000 nowadays.

Makes no sense, does it? If I don’t learn new vocabulary words, then what do I do?

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?

The other day it occurred to me that the Precious ‘I’ I have been talking about is just another name for vanity.

But vanity is a loaded word, while Precious ‘I’ has some compassion in it, it can be measured, everyone can relate to it, so it is less denied out of hand.

Because when you want to see yourself, be self-aware, you want to avoid the words that condemn.

Or in some cases using those words is your m.o., modus operandi, to keep it up, because you make it sound that you have nothing to say in the matter.

And having something to say in the matter is all the magic you need: you can tweak it, understand it, sympathize with it, and win.

Why do we have feelings? Not emotions… feelings…

If it has a name, it is no longer a feeling…
I am a True Empath. What does it have to do with the price of tea in China? A whole lot. I feel feeling you have… you have the feelings, but you don’t feel it. You only feel what you said it means.

Empathy, the ordinary kind, is part of the human DNA. It can be overpowered by the predatory genes… making the human not experience it… not care, and a whole 30% of humanity doesn’t feel empathy, and doesn’t care for another’s plight, pain, misery or need.

And then there is empathy where the person feels what the other feels to the degree that they are merged, the feelings that the person themselves are not feeling keenly. The shared feeling is always physical, interpreted according to the empathic person’s own experience.

Mistakes, errors, failures… and happiness

I like challenge.

I believe that only failures, only mistakes teach me anything, so I make sure I set my life up, I set my business up to have a steady stream of failures.
My counter-intuitive approach to life allows me to be happy.

The secret of happy producers… NOT what time they get up in the morning, or how many books they read…

My students, like popcorn, are starting to pop at the same time. It is hard to say what made each pop… especially if your vocabulary (distinction) is not keeping up with the richness of the invisible reality.

What do I mean?

I have been intrigued with the idea of helping people to be intrinsically motivated, ever since I read and re-read Deci’s book: Why we do what we do.

Without words one can be the best at something, but will never be able to teach it…

The curse of understanding…

If I know you well, your relationship to life is mainly through understanding. Which you either have or not.

When you do, you are happy, even though you are just as unsuccessful living well, being fulfilled as you were before.

When you hear something, when you see something, you try to understand it. When people do something, stupid, smart, hurtful, you want to understand why they did it. Don’t you?

When you read, you try to understand it.

But…

People who are successful, high achievers, they don’t try to understand, they may not understand at all.

What?!

Scientists are trying to keep you on the 15th floor of your being. Emotional Intelligence Part One

Once you distinguish something, you start seeing it everywhere… not only where you expect it, but really everywhere. This is done by something called the reticular activator or reticular activating system –>.

I teach distinctions, distinguishing, and my students are reluctant to learn and start seeing… Until you see it everywhere, everything is still about you… and no transformation can take place.

The new distinction I have learned from a set of books by Hungarian engineer, Gyozo Margóczi –>, is that all emotions are created by words, even though feelings are not… Feelings are a little pressure here, tightness there… no meaning. There is a feeling and then you add a word, and you get emotion. Depending on the word you add, the emotion changes.

Here is the  with the corresponding feelings… Continue reading Scientists are trying to keep you on the 15th floor of your being. Emotional Intelligence Part One
