Why do you want to connect to Source? What would it do?

Let me start with the story of a famous thief…
Arthur Barry was described by Time as ‘The slickest second-story man in the East,’ truly one of the most famous jewel thieves of all times.

In his years of crime, he committed as many as 150 burglaries and stole jewels valued between $5 and $10 million.

He seldom robbed from anyone not listed in the Social Register and often did his work in… get this…

A tuxedo!

On an occasion or two, when caught in the act of a crime by a victim, he charmed his way out of being reported to the police.

Like most people who engage in a life of crime, he was eventually caught, convicted and served 25 years in prison.

Following his release, he worked as a counterman in a roadside restaurant on the East Coast for $50 a week.

A newspaper reporter found him and interviewed him about his life.
After telling about the thrilling episodes of his life he came to the conclusion of the interview saying:
‘I am not good at morals. But early in my life I was intelligent and clever, and I got along well with people.
‘I think I could have made something of my life, but I didn’t.
‘So when you write the story of my life, when you tell people about all the burglaries, don’t leave out the biggest one of all… Don’t just tell them I robbed Jesse Livermore, the Wall Street baron or the cousin of the King of England. You tell them Arthur Barry robbed… Arthur Barry.
Arthur Barry realized — too late –that he’d robbed himself of time.
We all only have so much time to achieve our dreams and aspirations.
I don’t know what your dreams and aspirations are — but I do know that for you to achieve them you’ll likely need to get the cooperation and help of your vertical self. Your higher self.

This means that you are going to need to know how get out of your horizontal self, get into your vertical self, and get the cooperation and supportive help of your vertical self…

…and the EASIEST way to do that is to connect to Source… that is on the same vertical as your ‘inner coach’, the Observing Self. And no, it is not your mind. Your mind is NOT your inner coach, though it pretends to be one. Your mind is the one that tells you that you are entitled… or that you are stupid… that you will never amount to anything, no matter what you do.

Your inner coach is your vertical self, and to locate it, you need to be able to use the Tangerine Method to connect to Source. (Alternatively, I think, you can do it while you are connected to the Big Bundle… but I am not sure. I can’t test it because I am always connected.)
It doesn’t have to be hard either. You just need the right tool and training to teach you how to do it.
You see, most things that are out there (I say most, because I haven’t seen everything yet. But for all the courses that I have seen, what I am saying here is true), most teachers, most training, most coaching, most meditation, most guru stuff, operate on and strengthen your horizontal sel

Attitude Adjustment – is it easy?

How a simple attitude adjustment has made a big difference I decided, a few weeks ago, to start to take the weekends off… if nothing else, in my mind. It makes a big difference. I still answer emails, and maybe even write an article on Saturday or Sunday.

But the attitude is: I do what I like… it’s my day off… And my favorite things to do are reading, writing, and teaching… so weekends are, now, for the first time in 50 years, for doing what I most like to do… and my experience is that taking time off restores my energy, replenishes my resources… what a difference an attitude adjustment makes… Amazing.

This weekend I also watched some TV series on Netflix…

The invisible context gives you the quality of your life

I got the following story in an email. Great story to illustrate context. Another word for context is frame, because it is outside of the picture, it is not part of the picture, yet the picture changes when the frame changes, just like the stories of your life change when you manage to change the context, even if the new context has to be helped by a coach, like myself.

You see, what makes the stories and their meanings stuck is that the frame, that the context is invisible.

If it were readily visible, you would see to it that you change it. But as with everything that makes you miserable, it is the invisible that needs to be made visible, if you ever hope to get rid of the misery.

The two hemispheres of the brain and spirituality…

The scenic route of getting some teaching, and making it your own.
Making it nurturing, life affirming tree of life knowledge

I want to share a phenomenon, that, hopefully, will get clearer as I am sharing it. At the moment I can only see its visible aspect. I am almost certain it has an invisible aspect as well.

I read about three hours a day. Something that isn’t connected to my work: fiction.

But recently I have taken on a 20-day challenge: listen to 20 episodes of a Hungarian psychologist, Dr. Peter Popper, in his Mesterkurzus (master course) series, an hour long each.

Excellent, fascinating, the dude is both a psychologist, a university professor, a clinician, AND a religion expert… whatever that means.

Don’t set ambitious goals! sounds counter cultural?

In the famous marshmallow experiment by Walter Mischel. He said that the 30% of the kids that didn’t eat the marshmallow, didn’t even look at the marshmallow. They kept doing other things, keeping their eyes off the marshmallow. Consciously, intentionally, and purposefully.
The marshmallow is ‘the thing’, the goal people want… and it is what actually causes them to jump the gun, to quit pursuing it prematurely.
I have read a lot about that experiment, I have even written about it, but I didn’t know that the ‘winners’ avoided looking at the marshmallow. that piece was missing for me, until now.

One of the challenges I face with my students and clients is their high desire number, and the Desire Trap…
This discovery I stumbled on, by accident, is the missing piece in helping my students with that challenge.
Watching that TED talk yesterday opened up something inside, that is still full of swirling fog, ethereal figures, and yet, I know that something from the invisible has been released.

I was getting busy going down the rabbit hole about the marshmallow test which is as much of a principle as any principle, although its portability is hard to see…

All principles are portable, just like fractals. That is the nature of reality: as above so is below, or was that the other way around?

If it is true, a real principle, not just a made up rule, it is true everywhere, but to recognize it you need to be able to connect the dots.

Connecting the dots requires you to have a wide cone of vision, so you can compare the two phenomenon in the same glance, or alternatively, have enough long term memory to store an image that you can compare with.

Most people never committed anything to long term memory, and even the capacity for storing something for long term has atrophied.
Another way to look at long term memory is looking an measuring how many things you can hold in your brain at any one time.
For most people (8 billion) that is one thing…

That means that when they change what they look at, what they looked at disappears. So they cannot compare two things that are not inside the same cone of vision.

The size of your long term memory, interestingly, will decide what size box you live in.

It takes me just one short interaction to know that… what you talk about indicates the size of your box.

What’s wrong with a small box, you ask? Nothing WRONG, but it is limiting. You cannot dance, you cannot have adventure, you have locked yourself in with the few people who are probably wretched and no fun.

Your love of animals, interestingly, shows that you are not fulfilled in your small box… But it only indicates, it doesn’t remedy… the size of the box you live in will not grow without serious effort.

Pain.
While I was an architect, my box got smaller… uncomfortable. While I was in Landmark Education, my box got smaller… very limiting.
Breaking out of those small boxes was painful, scary, and

Entitlement, deserving: do you get what you deserve?

What is the opposite of entitled?
This question around entitlement is asked on google thousands times a day, and the trend is that this number is growing steadily.

More in certain countries… More in religious countries… Christian countries… Countries with deep Christian roots, like Ireland. One can safely assume that entitled, and deserving was invented by Christianity to promote certain behaviors that a father would want their child to demonstrate.

Other words that express this same entitlement are deserve and deserving.

Osho: Self-knowledge is the most difficult thing – because you are scared to know about yourself

Yesterday I wrote about the “nut” that unless you break it and see what’s in it, your life will be lived out in the misery of duality. There is help available, here, because you need someone who is ruthlessly compassionate.

Of course you want someone who’ll console you, who’ll coddle you, but if you really want to get to the other side of it, and start the process of becoming real, you need someone who doesn’t buy into your fantasy about yourself, that even you know it’s a fantasy.

I, honestly, don’t expect any of you to be ready. It’s not a rate thing, I could offer it for free, and you wouldn’t be interested enough to come.

The Playground was a long version of this process, and a total of three-four people attended regularly. Of course there I didn’t tell people what was required of them… maybe I didn’t really know… I only realized the significance after 2-3 months passed.

Here is an Osho talk, talking about this exact topic. Enjoy.

Self-knowledge is the most difficult thing – not because it is difficult, but because you are scared to know about yourself. A deep fear exists. Everybody is trying to escape, escape from himself. This fear has to be understood. And if this fear exists, whatsoever you do will not be of much help. You may think that you want to know yourself, but if this unconscious fear is there you will continuously avoid, you will continuously try to hide, deceive. On the one hand you will try to know yourself, and on the other hand you will create all sorts of hindrances so that you cannot know.

Not all complaints are created equal plus a funny story to wake you up

This article may be the most important article you’ll ever read… This is not an exaggeration. Any day is a good day to wake up, but around these weeks of greed and herdlike stomping to get more stuff, it is especially a good time. So, as you understand, this is a wake up article…

We all say we hate complainers. And we all complain.

But is there any form of complaint that is not a downer, that is not a racket, that is a good thing?

I like to watch entire series of television shows on Netflix. If I don’t like it, I just start another one. No commercials, no TV needed, easy.

I watched Foyle’s War, a British series, and I was encouraged: well written, well played. So I started to watch a Swedish series, Wallander. Five stars… must be good.

What is your Self, your Dharma? Can you find it? Can you define yourself?

I have been doing a lot of work while I seemingly do nothing… or not much.

Something is driving me…

I used to say it this way: “I can’t do no other”…
